Carers Week 2017

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.

The numbers of carers in the UK is rising with numbers currently estimated at over 6.5 million. As people live longer, the demand on the social care system is increasing.

Government’s Carers Strategy

Carers at the heart of 21st century families and communities” sets out a vision that by 2018:

“Carers will be universally recognised and valued as being fundamental to strong families and stable communities. Support will be tailored to meet individuals’ needs, enabling Carers to maintain a balance between their caring responsibilities and a life outside caring, while enabling the person they support to be a full”.

Self management uk

If you have the opportunity to attend a self management uk course, do it; you won’t regret it!

Really exciting and inspirational being taught by people who have been through similar issues, making the learning more open

Self management uk has been encouraging Carers to feel supported for over 15 years. We understand the services Carers need to access and respect their roles. We help Carers to feel that its ok to take time out for themselves and that their mental health is just as important as their physical health.

Our flexible approach of being able to offer modular sessions at times to suit Carers is effective for the social care system as well as the Carers.

We have vast experience of supporting adult and young Carers across the UK.
