Devon Support Tutor, Part time

Do you live with a long-term health condition or are you a carer to someone who does? Join our team and help transform people’s lives.

self management uk is a charity that provides support and training to people with long-term health conditions, such as arthritis, diabetes, lung disease and heart conditions. We also provide training and support to carers of people with long term conditions.

The support and training we provide makes a significant difference to our course attendees and helps them to manage the day-to-day impact of living with a long-term condition or supporting someone who does.

Our community-based courses are delivered by our team of valued volunteers and support tutors and we are increasing our team of bank support tutors in Devon.

Once trained, our support tutors facilitate and deliver our courses to groups of participants in the local community, helping course participants to feel more confident and in control of managing their health conditions or supporting those they care for.

Each individual training session runs for 2½ hours (with additional preparation and set down time) and a full course usually runs for 3 or 6 weeks. Our courses are being planned to run in Exeter, East, North and West Devon. Ideally, our Support Tutors will be willing to travel to all of these areas and commit to deliver a minimum of 4 or more full courses each year.

We provide full training, on completion of which you will become an Accredited Tutor. We continue to provide ongoing support and development and the opportunity to join a vibrant network of interesting people, all committed to supporting self-management.

If you have good communication and listening skills, are highly organised, able to perform some administrative tasks, have experience of managing a long term condition (or supporting someone who does) or simply have a passion for helping others making major life adjustments due to health problems, please contact us.

If you are interested in finding out more you can visit our website, contact us on 03333 445 840 or email us a copy of your CV and cover letter to [email protected].

Successful candidates will undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before commencement in the role.
