Building confidence and empowering people

Julie recently completed a self-management course in Southwark. Her action plan on week 1 was to start writing again. She joined a creative writing group, and the poem below was her first piece of work. She is now running the group. This all happened in a 7 weeks - 7 weeks of confidence building, empowering, listening and passing on self-management skills. We are so proud of Julie and all of the other ladies on the course. Well done!

Who am I?

I am Julie.

I am that child who was neglected and abused.

Keeping up the good work

I referred myself to the self-management course in 2014 because I was struggling to live with my long term conditions, most notably depression and hypothyroidism.

As the course progressed, I found that I was beginning to feel more confident and I felt better as I started to use many of the skills we discussed on the course.
