The programme, a collaboration between NHS Right Care, NHS England and Public Health England, is running a series of events for commissioners this month. In his presentation, Dr Martin McShane, Director for Long-term Conditions, NHS England, describes two scenarios for the journey of a 45-year old patient diagnosed with diabetes. The first scenario, with no self-management support, costs the NHS £49,000.
