self management uk: Excellence in Education and Training for the NHS

Self Management for Life – Trainee Programme has been Commended in the category of “Hearing the Patient Voice in Education and Training” in the Health Education Wessex Shine Awards 2015.

The Self Management for Life – Trainee Programme is delivered to health and social care students to raise awareness and understanding of the role self-management plays in the lives of people with long-term conditions. It also teaches them tools and techniques which enable them to support patients to become active self-managers.

Putting self-management on the agenda

One of self management uk’s vision is that everyone diagnosed with a long-term condition should have immediate access to self-management training and support. We know, from over a decade of experience, that patients can and want to manage their health condition and improve their wellbeing. We have published many inspiring stories in this blog and we receive positive feedback from our course participants day in, day out. They tell us about turning their lives around, with a positive impact not only on their health, but also on their families, work and local communities.
