On Thursday 5th June, we held a “Self-Management Celebration in Camden”, where course graduates and self management uk volunteers joined together with CCG officials to meet and share stories and experiences, celebrate their many achievements, and enjoy a mouth- watering buffet lunch!
As well as all of this, we heard some inspiring tales of what volunteering for self management uk means to the wonderful people who freely give their time to help us spread the self-management word either by delivering courses or becoming self-management Ambassadors. Winsome Jackson, Contract Manager for self management uk and I watched on with pride as we heard how taking that one small step of agreeing to volunteer has propelled some of them onto volunteering for other organisations, starting college courses and many other things they wouldn’t have dreamed they could do before attending a self management uk course! Others told of their increased confidence levels, renewed energy and all – round better lives. Camden CCG’s Long-Term Conditions Lead presented our volunteers with certificates and goodie bags, and then a great time was had by all and course graduates had an opportunity to refresh some of their self-management skills and play some party games organised by Winsome!
Thank you to everyone who attended – it was great to see so many people who have completed self management uk courses under one roof, and to have the opportunity to say a huge “Thank You” to our amazing volunteers. Carry on being so fabulous, and we’ll do it all again next year!
