What it meant to you

We are passionate about our charity because of the impact it has on our course participants, our beneficiaries.

"I got my latest results today and they were good. My blood sugar (HbA1c) level on 22 March 2021 was 109, on 21 June 2021 it was 36."

This was from a participant on one of the X-PERT diabetes structured education courses we deliver.

We believe everyone with a long-term health condition (physical or mental) has the right to good quality self-management support and to have choices about how they can live healthier and happier lives.

Here are a few comments that recent attendees wanted to inspire others with:

“I was too scared to go outside and go for my walks- I used to walk every day and since COVID-19 I’ve just stayed inside. But now I’m able to go walking again because I talked about it and got tips from the course on a problem-solving activity"

Course participants often tell us they feel calmer, understood, motivated, accepted and better after attending.

"It’s motivating me to do things I wouldn’t have thought of and I feel better"

Our courses are peer-led and peer-developed. We believe the best people to talk about how to cope with a long-term condition is someone who has one and can share the tools needed to live with the condition and not let it take over.

For more information about our courses either get in touch, read some of the inspiring stories from our volunteers or read through our course leaflets.
