New Vacancy: Vice Chair of Trustees

Voluntary role with paid travel expenses

The majority of meetings will be held in London with occasional travel

With your senior-level strategic leadership skills and financial management expertise; experience of charity governance; and understanding of the healthcare sector, you could make an invaluable and highly visible contribution as you hold to account our Charity Board and Executive Team, while providing inclusive leadership; supporting and challenging our Chief Executive; and acting as ambassador and, together with our Chief Executive, presenting our public face.

Self management uk, having recently transferred to charitable status, is well-established and highly successful in revolutionising the lives of people with long-term health conditions. We design, develop and deliver the tools and techniques and build the confidence for each and every individual to manage their condition better-and-better day-to-day.

This is a rich and rewarding mandate increasingly recognised by Government and stakeholders as a critical way forward in healthcare. The Charity Trustees are focused on vision, mission and values; strategy and innovation; setting policy, defining goals and establishing targets; compliance, financial controls and proper investment; and monitoring and evaluating performance.

With the personal gravitas to lead a significant national organisation, fostering and promoting a collaborative team environment, you must have outstanding inter-personal, relationship-building and networking abilities; tact and diplomacy; and the skills to listen and engage effectively.

Your time commitment includes approximately six Board meetings annually; further meetings regularly with the Chief Executive; plus representing us at various events and with key stakeholders.

You will serve an initial term of three years to be eligible for re-appointment for one additional term.

This is a voluntary position and so not remunerated although travel expenses will be reimbursed.
